It seems somewhat natural for people pursuing any kind of creative endeavor, or putting themselves out there in some way, to be nervous about how they’re received. I self-published a novel last year that someone on Amazon gave a 1-star review, calling it “ghastly.” It cracked me up! I’m actually reworking the novel, adding a few chapters and doing some more editing, but not because of that review — because I want to do it. I’m inspired to make it the best book I can.
As someone used to say to me, “What’s the worst that can happen?” We’re never really risking anything anyway, so who cares what someone says? Who cares if we “bomb”? We always have our well-being. We’re never at risk of losing that, ever. And isn’t that enough to give us the courage to try anything?
