First of all, forgive the froggy-sounding voice. I’m just getting over a slight cold …

It’s always interesting to me to receive newsletters and read blog posts about all the things I’m supposed to do to avoid failure and achieve success. People seem to think there really is a formula for this.

I think people mean well, and they want to help others. But to believe that there are certain things we absolutely MUST do or we will fail? Hogwash. Goal setting can be fun, for sure. That’s the key, though: seeing it as fun, and not as something that is necessary to be successful, happy, secure and so forth.

And I’m not sure I even see “failure” as a real thing anymore. Like everything else, it’s beginning to look more and more like my thinking in the moment: an illusion that I’m seeing as real.

What do you think?
